How to Never Lose Your Return on Investment!

If you have ever lost a lot of money in an investment, you will know that it’s a very disheartening event! Riches certainly make themselves wings and fly away! In this post I will share how you can keep your Return on Investment!

You have heard it said many times, we come into the world with nothing and we leave with nothing! Yet many people work endlessly to accumulate as much wealth in their short lives as possible.

Why?

Because money promises happiness – you can have everything your heart desires!

Sadly though, the unrelenting pursuit of money has destroyed many marriages, many relationships with children as one or both parents were absent from home much of the time physically and/or emotionally.

We all need money; it is neither good nor bad.

However, how we use it can certainly be for good or bad.

There is a quote from the Bible that often gets quoted incorrectly as “money is the root of all evil.” Importantly, the missing words are “the love of” at the beginning of the quote.

“For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows” 1 Timothy 6:10

The Secret to Keeping Your Return on Investment!

Having wealth is not a bad thing, in fact many wealthy people use their money in such a way that they are investing in the lives of others.

Does it matter how we spend our money whether we have a little of a lot?

Yes!

It often surprises Christians when they discover just how much the Bible talks about money. In fact there are more than 2300 verses on money, wealth and possessions. Jesus spoke about money roughly 15% of his preaching and 11 out of parables. It was his most talked about topic. (wealthwithpurpose.com)

Why did Jesus talk so much about money?

He knows how easily we can make money a priority, a god, in our lives so that we begin to serve it rather than it serving us. And, God knows that we will serve either God or money. Matthew 6:24

The scripture verse is clear: we can not serve both God and money.

English statesman Francis Bacon once wrote, “Money is a great servant but a bad master.”

The secret is to serve God with the money he enables you to earn. Use it as a tool to provide for your family, to bless others and to support and grow the work of Jesus Christ!

Store Up Your Treasures in Heaven!

This verse explains how we are to use our money so that it does not become a heart issue for us:

Do not store up for yourselves on earth where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroy and where thieves do not break in nor steal, for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Matthew 6:19-21 MEV (emphasis added)

We read in 2 Corinthians 5:10

“For we must all stand before Christ to be judged. We will each receive whatever we deserve for the good or evil we have done in this earthly body.”

Also, in 1 Peter 1:4, we read this promise:

And we have a priceless inheritance-an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay.

Warning About Keeping Wealth in its Proper Place.

God warns us as to how  easily we can turn our heart to believe that we can rely on our wealth and the outcome will not be good.

See, this is the man who did not make God his refuge, but trusted in the abundance of riches, and grew strong in his own wickedness. Psalm 52:7

Don’t make your living by extortion or put your hope in stealing. And if your wealth increases, don’t make it the center of your life. Psalm 62:10

Time is a Limited Valuable Asset. Make Sure You Get Your Return on Investment!

When we think of investing, we should never forget the value of time!

This is a very important treasure that we all have. However, it is limited and we do not know what that limit is.

Time and money are both valuable assets!Importantly, time allows us to discover and fulfill our unique purposes. Each of us has been created with gifts and talents. These were given so that we can serve God and others and contribute to God’s Kingdom and in the meantime allow others to see Jesus in us. Ephesians 2:10

Scripture reminds us of how uncertain our time on earth is:

you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”— yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.”

A  quote by C.T. Studd goes like this- and it’s the truth!

Only one life, ’twill soon be past, only what’s done for Christ will last. And when I am dying, how happy I’ll be, If the lamp of my life has been burned out for Thee.

When you are young it’s easy to think you have forever- or at least a long time ahead of you and we leave God out of your life. Don’t make this mistake! Not one of us knows how long we will live!

First Step in Activating Your Eternal Return on Investment!

Sending Your Investment on ahead of you- to Heaven – first requires that you are in a saving relationship with Jesus. He lived a perfect and sinless life on earth and was crucified to pay the debt of our sin. He offers eternal life as a free gift of grace to all who will receive it, repent of sin and follow after Him.

If you haven’t yet taken that step. You can read more about it here:
