"Lord, what are human beings that you care for them, mere mortals that you think of them? They are like a breath; their days are like a fleeting shadow. Psalms 144: 3-4

Life is very short! We need to use our time wisely; all our days are numbered. Make your days count for eternity!

What does the sand timer symbol mean?
The hourglass, sometimes with the addition of metaphorical wings, is often used as a symbol that human existence is fleeting, and that the “sands of time” will run out for every human life. Wikipedia

“Time Flies” is a very common statement. Those of us in our later years  probably say this most often as we look at the younger generation, the generation that we once were. We are now the older generation,  replacing our now deceased grandparents and parents.

I find myself being much more selective with how I spend my time knowing that it is limited. My sand timer is running out on the top part of the glass.

Considering how time truly seems to fly by, I want to explore the question,  “What Are You, What Am I Doing Here?”  These four words, purpose, plan, passion and practice are helpful in reflecting on that question.

You were created by God for a purpose! Do you know what it is? Life is short; take time to discover the question, "what am I doing here?"

(The following statements/excerpts are taken from this article, Who Does God Say That I Am?)
  • God says I am His beloved child 1 John 3:1 John 1:12,13
  • God says I am chosen, adopted into His Family Ephesians 1:4-6 1 Thessalonians 1:4;  2:13
  • God says I am valuable. He calls me His workmanship Ephesians 2:10,  Genesis 1:26,27
  • God says I am redeemed. So valuable are we to God that He purchased us with the precious blood of His Son, Jesus Christ: 1 Peter 1:18–19, Ephesians 1:7
  • God says I am a new person in Jesus Christ. Through His salvation, we gain an altogether new identity and a whole new life: 2 Corinthians 5:17
  • God says I am His friend. Through a relationship with Jesus, God shares His heart with us. John 5:15
  • God says I am His ambassador 2 Corinthians 5:20
  • God says I am a member of Jesus Christ’s body: Ephesians 3:6
  • God says I am exceedingly loved: “God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners” Romans 5:8

The more we study the Word of God, the more we discover who we are in Christ. We are transformed into the person God says we are when we make Jesus Christ the pursuit of our lives: “So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image” (2 Corinthians 3:18 see also Romans 8:29; 12:2; Philippians 1:6; Ephesians 4:15.

So with that amazing list telling me who I am, I want to honor my creator with my life purpose. He had a purpose for me before I was even conceived! Ephesians 2:10 Amazing right!!

I pray that if you are reading this and you are confused about who you are- your identity, what your purpose is in this life, that you will come to know Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord of your life. I encourage you to read the full article linked above.
