Good News - God transforms us

Have you ever wondered whether you are so busy serving the Lord that you neglect your relationship with Him? Jesus reminds us in John 15:5 that apart from Him, we can do nothing. True Christian service does not begin with what we do for God, but with our relationship with Him. When we abide in Christ, our worship becomes the foundation from which loving, fruitful service flows.

“Worship is the foundation, and service is the fruit.”

Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. John 15:5 NIV

Jesus is the vineWorship always precedes service because our work for God must flow out of our relationship with God. Before the Lord calls us to do something for Him, He calls us to know Him, love Him, and walk in fellowship with Him.

In Luke10:38-42, we see this principle in the lives of Martha and Mary. Martha was busy serving, while Mary sat at the feet of Jesus, listening to His words. Jesus did not condemn Martha for serving, but He reminded her that Mary had chosen what was most important.

This teaches us that we can become so busy doing things for the Lord that we neglect spending time with the Lord. Worship is more than singing songs or attending a church service; it is the surrender of our hearts to God, recognizing His greatness, His holiness, and His worthiness. As we spend time in His presence, our hearts are renewed, our motives are examined, and our lives are brought into alignment with His will.

Abide in Christ

Jesus said in John 15:5, “Apart from me you can do nothing.”

Just as a branch must remain connected to the vine to bear fruit, we must abide in Christ if our service is going to produce lasting spiritual fruit.

We do not serve to earn God’s love or prove our worth; we serve because we have already received His grace through the finished work of Christ.

Worship is the foundation, and service is the fruit.

When we truly worship the Lord, our love for Him begins to express itself through obedience, compassion, generosity, and service to others. God is not simply looking for busy hands; He desires hearts that are devoted to Him.

The question is not merely:

“What am I doing for the Lord?” But also,

“Am I walking with the Lord from whom my service must flow?”

When our service grows out of worship, it becomes more than a duty; it becomes an expression of love, gratitude, and surrender to the One who has given everything for us.

The more we learn to sit at the feet of Jesus, the more our lives will reflect His heart. May our service always flow from our love for Him, and may our worship never become just something we do, but the very way we live before Him. We serve best when we learn to abide in Him first.

A quote from Dallas Willard-

“Worship will become the constant undertone of our lives. It is the single most powerful force in completing and sustaining restoration of our whole beings to God.”
